Surrogacy

Surrogacy makes it possible for an intended parent who does not have the ability to carry a pregnancy to have a genetically-related child.  Roberta Batley and Lauren Riley are experienced in the surrogacy process, working with either the surrogate or the intended parents.  They recognize the emotional and complex journey they are taking together.  Ms. Batley and Ms. Riley discuss what can be expected in terms of timeline, costs and issues that could arise and draft an extensive contract.  The agreement details all aspects of the arrangement so the parties have clear expectations.

In many cases, an independent agency is used to coordinate the process between the surrogate and the intended parents.  In these instances, the attorneys at Batley Powers are engaged by either the surrogate or the intended parents to review, negotiate and discuss the Gestational Carrier (Surrogacy) Agreement prior to signing.

A Pre-Birth or Post-Birth Order is a legal document assigning parentage to a child.  This court filed document enables the hospital to list the intended parents on the child’s birth certificate.  The attorneys at Batley Powers Family Law are experienced with drafting and filing the Petition and Affidavits necessary for the Order prior to or after the child’s birth.

Contact us at Batley Family Law if you need assistance with the surrogacy process. We will be glad to discuss options and guide you to the most cost-effective, beneficial solution for you and your changing family.
