ABA Journal Highlights Successes of IAALS Out-of -Court Divorce Model

The Honoring Families Initiative of the IAALS has achieved success in its resource center in Denver. “Families never have to enter a courtroom. If they’re successful, their divorce or separation is granted by a visiting judge in a comfortable room on the university’s campus-a feature that is more important than many people realize.” The program started small with roughly 100 families in its first year and another 100 in the 2014-15 academic year. They are working to replicate it at universities and in communities nationwide.
