Lauren E. Riley practices in all aspects of family law, divorce, custody, child support, kinship-guardianship, and divorce modification. She obtained her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law. Lauren also received advanced training in Collaborative Divorce representation.
A proud graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law, Lauren contributed to the law school community through a variety of roles and initiatives. She served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Tribal Law Journal and Vice President of the Association for Public Interest Law. In recognition of her contributions, she received both the Clinical Legal Education Association’s Outstanding Student Award and the Dean’s Award.
Lauren’s dedication to public service began well before law school. After earning her B.A. in Social Work from Colorado State University, she worked as a Social Worker in Pennsylvania, assisting individuals with disabilities experiencing chronic homelessness. Missing the mountains and green chile, Lauren returned home to Albuquerque, where she joined New Mexico AIDS Services as the Housing and Program Manager, where she administered statewide housing assistance grants for individuals facing homelessness.
In her legal career, Lauren has continued her commitment to service. She currently serves as the Immediate Past Chair of the State Bar of New Mexico Young Lawyers Division. She previously served as the New Mexico and Arizona District Representative to the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, where she helped implement a Disaster Legal Services hotline for victims of the Hermits Peak – Calf Canyons Fires. Additionally, she serves as a board member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico.
Lauren was honored to receive the New Mexico State Bar Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award, which is awarded to attorneys who have, during the formative stages of their legal careers by their ethical and personal conduct, exemplified for their fellow attorneys the epitome of professionalism by demonstrating a commitment to clients’ causes and to public service, enhancing the image of the legal profession. In 2025, she was awarded the UNM School of Law Alumni Promise Award, which recognized her outstanding accomplishments and service to the legal community.
Lauren Riley’s vast experience focusing on the needs of New Mexicans combined with her legal expertise enable her to advocate strongly for her clients. She is committed to understanding the unique needs of each client and providing them with effective legal representation.
